A rural retreat

On the banks of the River Severn sits The Priory, a family home and small-holding. In its former cowsheds, two cottages have been converted, nestled at the foot of a traditional apple orchard.

The cottages offer a secluded and calm spot from which to explore the area. Wonderful walks start from the door; meander down through the garden to reach the Severn Way footpath or stroll through the fields to visit the ancient village of Awre, surrounded on three sides by water.

Severn-side birdsong

The unique Severn views from the cottages and gardens are otherworldly and ever-changing. Set against the soundtrack of birdsong, they provide a rare spot of natural tranquility.

The cottages have been comfortably renovated, with generous sized beds, luxurious linens and fluffy white towels. The cosy sitting rooms have underfloor heating and woodburning stoves for relaxing winter evenings playing boardgames or curling up in front of the television. And when summer arrives, prepare a feast of locally-sourced food on the barbecue, at the foot of the apple orchard.

“There is a gentle nymph not far from hence,

That with moist curb sways the smooth Severn stream:

Sabrina is her name: a virgin pure”

John Milton, Comus (1634)
